Who are these people? National Attorney Network

I got a letter from capital one indicating that my alleged debt is assigned. They refuse to say who it is assigned to but give me the number 800-260-1706.

When I call it anonymously, I get a voicemail which identifies themselves as National Attorney Network.

If I unblock my number, a receptionist picks up the phone and invariably says "please hold" before you get a word in.

I wasn't willing to hold long enough to hang myself.

Any ideas? I want to see if the law firm that claims to represent Capital One has proper standing to do so.

Thanks

I did a google on these guys and came up with ...

http://www.tsys.com/services/tdm/nan.htm

...looks like its both a collection agency and a network of lawyers primed and ready to go to court. I'm guessing that you get put on hold while she looks up your area code and figures out what debt chaser is on call for your area.

You can look into whoever tsys is...

I'v been doing a search on them myself. I can't come up with much yet.I'm not sure if they buy the debt, or just find attorney's for the companies. When I called they told me that Cap-One assigned the account over to this law office and gave me a number to call Not Doing That. They also said that Cap-One doesn't have my file anymore? So if I find anything out I'll let you know. I'm also trying to find out if the plaintiff is cap-one, or what the heck is going on.

So far this is what I found out, don't know if this will help you because This is on my summons. I found a letter from another D.C for the same accound that NAN wants monies for. So The attorney that says they for collecting for Cap-One are not. They were assigned by NAN, Who must have brought it from another D.C. So I guess the bottom line is that Cap-One isn't the plaintiff , I don't know who is. I'v been at this for day's and as soon as I find out I'll let you know.

NAN usually work for Cap1. But Cap1 still owes the debt they just assigned it to NAN....they usually do this when they are fixing to sue. Cap1 hardly ever sells the debt.

Cap1 ALSO usually keeps very good records. They turn them over to the NAN attorneys.

NAN is just a collection of attorney's scattered all over the states. attorneys that collect debts. When you call...they use your area code to know what local attorney (in their network of national attoney's) to send your call to.

Any Better info on this? CRAP1 has a MA Law firm Gary Kreppel, wocester, MA that has signed the court complaint using they are the attorney for Crap1....

I called CRap1 and entered my account #, I was transfered to the NAN (National Attorney Network) Voice mail, I left a voice mail.

Anyone know if I can fight this that he is a collector and not for Crap1 or am I wrong.

I did a DV, they sent me a bunch of statements and flyers, but no contract, they do have my signature blown up on something but I don't know what, because an atty from another law form was there for them without me knowing that, damn clerk mags are all crooked! The CM treated me like a piece of crap and pretty much questioned me about the debt, smells illegal...

I have pre-trial coming up any suggestions?

Thanks in advance
