chilton1
I applied for a credit line increase with Hooters last night and they did a hard pull on my TU credit report. Is this Hooters normal proceedure for granting a credit line increase? They initally gave me a $500 limit. For those of you who have been approved what is average increase that I can hope to receive?I am really annoyed that they did a hard pull.
VonAngel (aka EarthAngel)
Some creditors do hard pulls when the consumer requests a CLI. Hooters granted me an automatic $200-increase after 6 months. They most definitely didn't do a hard pull on my report.
chilton1
Thanks. I have had the account for 4 months. I requested the increase. I am waiting to see what the increase if any is going to be. At least they pulled TU so i can bump it off.I wont be happy if they give me 200. I could get a larger credit line with that inquiry from some one else. Bastards. I asked them if they would be doing a hard pull and the j$ck$ss ragamuffin told me no and then what do you know a hard inquiry.thanks again. VonAngel (aka EarthAngel)
You just never know w/ Merrick Bank. I just looked @ my statement today and saw that they gave me another increase of $300. I've had the card 8-9 months. So, they seem to be a little generous as far as giving CLI frequently. Do let us know the decision when you find out.
LNY
I've yet to speak to a CSR who even knows the difference between a hard and soft pull. Most of them also don't know that there are three (major) CRAs, or that their company is likely to pull just one of them for an application. I'm not sure if many of them have ever even seen a credit report.

chilton1
Update I was denied. :'> I am disputing the inquiry on monday The letter states:... " we are unable to increase you credit line for the following reasons:YOUR CURRENT CREDIT LIMIT IS ALREADY AT OR ABOVE OUR PRE-DETERMIND THRESHOLD"Our credit decision was based in whole or in part on information obtained in a report from the consumer-reporting agency listed below. You have the right under the Fair Credit Reporting Act to obtain a free copy of your consumer credit report from this agency. The report can be obtained free of charge by contacting the agency listed below within sixty (60) days after your receipt of this letter. The consumer-reporting agency played no part in our decision and is unable to supply any specific reason why we have denied credit to you. You have the right under the Fair Credit Reporting Act to dispute with the consumer reporting agency the accuracy or completeness of any information contained in your consumer report.I am very annoyed; if they know that they don't give credit increases before 6 months, then why did they pull my credit without my permission. When they approved me for the card my credit score was 630 they gave me $500 at frigging 25% interest rate so that is a pay off at end of month card. Now credit score is 678. Jerks Probably when down with their inquiry
VonAngel (aka EarthAngel)
That sucks!!! I'm sorry that you had to play the guinea pig. Now we all know not to request a CLI for the Hooters Card. I looked closely @ my TU report last week and saw that Hooters has been making a soft pull of my report EVERY month. WTF?!! So, IMO, there's not need to ask them for a CLI; they are already checking your reports monthly to see if you qualify or not. But give it the full 6 months, Chilton, to see if they'll throw any love your way. They usually do.

KiddoNeedsCredit
Your scores are higher than mine and I received a $1300 CL. I wonder what they use to determine a limit to start out at. I applied for a CLI upon activation.... denied.

chilton1
I was only at 630 when i got the card and i only had one CC at that time. Maybe that is why. My scored have increased since i got the card. Wont they know that my utilization is not high? On there card zero balance; overall utilizaton on all cards about 5%
