Experian has an original creditor reporting STILL --yet the collection agency assigned the account is expiring because its too old (7.5 yrs) to still be reporting. I have written to Experian requesting that they remove the OC since its on my CR w/o an expiration date yet all they did was UPDATE IT. Please help! Now Experian REFUSES to remove their mistake. It's illegal for them to still be reporting the OC yet they won't delete it! Somebody help!!

Well, I agree w/ creditlawguru. If they're trying to keep in on your CR's beyond the 7.5 yr time frame you are probably well within your rights to sue.

I guess if it were me and I was at that 7.5 yr mark, I'd write the furnisher (the original creditor) and inform them that their reporting time has expired and could they please remove it from my Experian credit report. If they don't, submit formal complaints to BBB, Attorney General Offices (for your state AND theirs) and Federal Trade Commission. From there, locate a suitable ITS (Intent to sue) letter to send to Experian or the furnisher (OC, not sure which you'd go after). Whatever you do, make sure you're ready to sue though.

First off you need to contact Experian to find out what the OC is reporting as the DOFMD. This you can do on the phone.

Check that against what the CA is reporting as DOFMD. As well as checking your own personal records.

Have you sent in an actual written dispute of this TL to Experian? If you have, then follow the guidelines in the above links for "Disputing w/Original Creditor".
