trhonda2000
I had a BestBuy card from 02' that I never paid. Long story short, young and dumb! Well five years later, my lil sister accepted a summons to court at my mother's house. I don't live there! My sis thought they said my mother's name, and it was 9:30 PM when it was delivered?! What should I do, what is my next step. The court date is in March.
elyse449
Read the papers carefully and than, respond accordingly. Whatever you do, make sure to show up to whatever hearing is stated. Also, you may want to go down to the courthouse and request a complete copy of this file so that you know what all theyr'e presenting to the judge. What state do you reside in??Elyse
the aussie
OP is from "The Show Me State".....and trhonda2000...whatever you do, don't ignore the summons. It will not go away.
trhonda2000
Thanks for the response everyone! I'm very "shaken" to say the least over this. I believe the SOL may be up for them, and I don't even know if they actually own this debt! I know it's way past too late to conduct the DV, but what type of lawyer should I look for to fight this matter, or do I need one?
Recovering Attorney
IN your answer, allege teh SOL has run, and allege that the Cour has no personal jurisidiction over you because of the improper service. Go to naca.net to find a consumer-knowledgeable lawyer in your area.
