mkr_00
I have sent offers to pay in full for deletion letters to my last four baddies. It has been 3 weeks and noone responded. I am willing to pay them but don't want to make them current again. I guess I will try to DV them now. Any other suggestions??
divemedic
No point in DV now. By offering to pay, you admitted the debt, and I am sure the debt is now beyond the 30 day window. You also may have reset the SOL.For example, in FL a written offer to pay resets the obligation on time barred debts.
SecretAgentWoman
I always asumed PFD was you absolute last option, after all other avenues were tried first.
divemedic
PFD should be a last resort, but so many people think that paying is an easy way to fix things, assuming that the CA would rather have your money than trash your credit. Nothing could be further from the truth. The CA's look at an offer of PFD to mean that you have the cash and are willing to pay. At that point, you are negotiating from a point of weakness.I made the same mistake once. The paid collection is still there, 5 years later. It falls off this year. In Cali, is a written and/or verbal offer to pay reset obligation?
hopen4800
If you are ready to pay then research "restrictive endorsement". That is a device that can bind the CA's to your terms. But educate your self and DO IT RIGHT! There are some wonderful minds here that can help. But from one newbie to another read, read, read. mkr_00
I am in Texas and been trying to get these off for 2 years. There are 4 of them from 2003. Two of them are utilities and they have verified everything. I figured that I would just give in and pay them if they would delete them.
mzsyd
I've never had any luck yet with PFD
amax41
I've only had luck once....after my divorce I guess the guy had been down the same road. Another note..if the derog is fresh, i.e. you just went 90 and the collections got involved ...then it's not all that bad - 90 days is really nothing in the big picture.
