shamrockgal
Hi everyone,I recieved a collection letter today for a lab fee of $11.27 -yep, thats right, $11!I called them to say that I would pay in full if they would supply me with something stating that this would never show up on my credit report and they said that a) they are not set up to do that - that letters like that must be approved by their attorney and credit bureaus do not pick up debts that are less than $50 anyways.Any truth to this? If so I'll just call and make a payment in full.

bigjohnstud4200
Not true, Surety Acceptance has reported an $11, $15 and a $45 debt to my credit report for bills incurred by my fater, a senior. My father's been dead 4 years and I just found out about it a few months back.
FicoSchmico
Don't pay them outright! It will stay on your CR as a derogatory. You should negotiate a pay for delete (PFD). Do a search on here - many examples.I recently negotiated a PFD for my $16 collectionFS
retmar
I've never seen a set minimum amount, but, there was word once that $25 was the "accepted norm" for reporting. And, in our repair, we did have a couple less than $25 and were not reported. Then again, a previous poster had some for less being reported, so, is there a set amount?Do as suggested and send them an offer of settlement for full amount for a deletion. Tell them to take their comment as to needing the attorney to sign off as a crock of "stuff". Too many times a CA tells the consumer it is illegal to delete a TL once it is reported. There is nothing illegal about it. Yes, it creates a bit of an effort to delete, but, it can be done. All they need to do is to tell the CRA it was reported in error and leave it at that. Remember, the statute only says that IF you report, it must be correct.
