Please help!

I have a couple of charged off debts that have recently been turned over to collections. One is for school, one is for a phone bill. I would like to pay them (in April) but I also want the collections (which are not yet on my CR) AND the original CO off of my report.

Please advise how to proceed? DV, and then PFD?

Did they JUST go to collections? How long have they been w/ the collection company, do you know? Are they reporting on your CR's yet?

Also, I thought student loans were fixable? Meaning, if you pay up what you owe and make your payments they'll recall the debt and put you in good standing or whatever??? Student loans aren't my thing so you'd need to sniff this out to find out. Have you contacted EITHER original creditor?

Yes, they are brand new collections... I got letters last week. The original charge offs are on my CR, but the collections are not. I believe if I DV before the 30 days they have to validate before placing the collections on my CR?

The school debt isn't a student loan... It's tuition I owe directly to the college (a rip off but that's a whole 'nother issue).

I DO want to pay these, especially the school one since I need my transcript. I just will not be able to pay until April, and by that time, the collection will probably be on my CR.

I'd send an OIC.... and get them to agree to remove the debt or change it to Paid as agree'd/Never late as soon as you pay it. Deal directly with the OC.

I'm stil new, so that may not be the best way to handle it. But it's a shot.
