abadsarge
I disputed my chatper 7 BK which was discharged back in 2000 about 2 weeks ago. I got a letter in the mail today from TU requesting that I provide them a copy of the discharge paperwork. My question is should I send it to them? I disputed it as not mine because it was filed in Alaska and all my address on my CR have NC now. Thanks
willingtocope
Hmmm....you disputed it, and now they want you to send them copies of papers for a BK that you side you didn't have?Obviously, don't send them copies. If you want to pursue this, send them a letter saying "I said I didn't do a BK. How can I send you copies of something I don't have". But, I assume that's a lie on your part...it may come back to haunt you later.

Is disputing this something that anyone here has had sucess with? Thanks for bringing this up.
willingtocope
There have been some posters that claim to have had their BK's deleted. They claim to have called the court house where they filed for a copy of thier BK papers. While the papers are out of circulation (being copied) for about 2 weeks, they then dispute with the CRAs. The claim is that when the CRAs go to verify, they papers aren't available...so the BK gets deleted.I'm skeptical as to whether this works or not. First, the courts don't report BKs directly to the CRAs...some third party troll that rummages through legal filings does. Second, most courts keep computer images of such things these days...so, they aren't "pulled from storage" anymore.

I knew what I was getting into and I am going to take the lumps. I'm in the final stretch anyway.
brattylatina
I have had them deleted by just disputed as "not mine." TU and EX were the easiest but EQ held on forever. I waited several months and disputed again with EQ as "not mine" and they just deleted it a few weeks ago.

Would you mind sharing if and how much your scores went up after it was removed? Since I am prying may I ask how old your public record was? Did you file 7 or 13?Snoopy snoopy! It usually gets verified but this time for some reason it worked. I haven't checked my fico for EQ but I know that my FAKO didn't change.
