bigslimmie
I have two judgements that I am making installment payments on. Both to law firms hired by the original creditors (Ford Motor Co., and an apartment complex). Is there anything I can do to get out of these judgements? Or does my payment history to them mean that I admit I owe the debt?
myscoresawful
I have had only one judgement on my credit report, ever. I never made payments on it because I couldn't afford to, but I did owe it. It was from a landlord.I never tried to get out of it, but I will tell you this much: I would imagine that if you tried to take legal action to get out of it, a judge would ask you why you made payments on something that you felt you didnt owe in the first place. (just playing devil's advocate here). I know some people who know very little about the way collections, etc work, and have been hounded by agencies to pay. The people feel that it is their burden of proof to prove that they do not owe the money, and since they can not, they attempt to pay it in order to make it go away, which is the only reason I believe a judge would consider.Aside from legal action, you might can get out of paying it by just stopping, but the judgement will stay on your credit report for the remainder of time it's allowed.I would also like to add, that since they have the judgement, won in a court of law, they have all rights to move forward with having your wages attached, which means you will end up paying it regardless.I wish you good luck.
