grimlockgrill
Hello this is my first posting to the board. I am not sure if my question has already been asked in the history of the board, but I checked my credit report yesterday and there is an address on there where I have never lived before. I lost my wallet some years back and my Social security card was in there and some kind citizen used it to get a home telephone service in my name. I have since had that removed from my report but the address remains. My question is in two parts 1) what do I need to do to get this address removed from my credit file? 2) Is there a way that I can use this erroneous address to my advantage to get some negative items removed before hand? Figured it might not hurt to try. Thanks for your help
grimlockgrill
RE:"Did you file a police report or fraud alert at that time? If so, I would write a simple letter explaining that the address is not yours, never lived there, etc."At the time when I lost my wallet yes. grimlockgrill
Well as careless as it was, when I lost my wallet I never filed a police report. I was a little ill-informed as to what needed to be done at the time. I called the police dept last night and they basically told me there was nothing that I can now. Which is a reasonable answer. I just wished that I could go back get that police report. I think I lost this round.
