Wrong address on my credit report?

Hello this is my first posting to the board. I am not sure if my question has already been asked in the history of the board, but I checked my credit report yesterday and there is an address on there where I have never lived before. I lost my wallet some years back and my Social security card was in there and some kind citizen used it to get a home telephone service in my name. I have since had that removed from my report but the address remains. My question is in two parts 1) what do I need to do to get this address removed from my credit file? 2) Is there a way that I can use this erroneous address to my advantage to get some negative items removed before hand? Figured it might not hurt to try.

Thanks for your help

Have you done any disputing as far as any delinquent accounts? When I first started credit repair, I disputed some as "not mine." It is up to each individual and if they feel comfortable doing that. If you have copy of police report, you can send in copy and just explain that your wallet was lost, etc and that the address was not yours and was used fraudulently.

Well as careless as it was, when I lost my wallet I never filed a police report. I was a little ill-informed as to what needed to be done at the time. I called the police dept last night and they basically told me there was nothing that I can now. Which is a reasonable answer. I just wished that I could go back get that police report. I think I lost this round.
