ok so, i have some items i want rid of that are on my CR's.

All are being reported by CA's

Should i try to pay the OC's on these accounts first or should I dispute these items with the CRA's first to try and see if i can get rid of them entirely????

I want to get a mortage so waiting for these items to expire and fall off my reports is unfortunatley not an option.

Are these accounts reporting accurately?

How old are these debts?

How much is EACH debt?

Have you disputed ANY of these debts? If so, which ones and with whom (CA or OC)?

When are you looking to buy a home?

I believe that these are my debts. I am not sure if they are being reported correctly because I forgot all about then until I pulled my credit report recently. And these CA have not been trying to reach me for any payment.

How old are these debts?

These debts are all around 3-5 years old.

How much is EACH debt?

These debts range from $100 - $500 each.

I have not disputed anything yet.

When are you looking to buy a home?

Hopefully by early 2008.

I think you should first request validation via whoever is reporting this information. Send each collection agency a letter requesting validation. Send your letter CMRRR.

Wait 30 days.

Than, request verification via the three credit reporting agencies reporting this information. *Note: If the CRA is not reporting the debt, don't request verification from them, go on to whoever IS.

Verify that they are yours and that the amounts are correct. The validation will be nice because that should include some things from the original creditor.

Next, and if they come out verified and valid, attempt settlement. Keep in mind, -0- balances is ultimately what you want. So, if you settle for a lesser amount-make sure you negotiate the credit reporting.

The ones less than 3 yrs of age will be looked at HARDER than the elder ones. And the good part to this is if you end up paying these and they appear to re-age by next year, your credit report should have bounced back FICO score wise. In the meantime, make sure you're building POSITIVE credit to though.

JMHO. Attempting to get home financing is different than attempting to get unsecured credit. Firstsource over in the mortgage section may have some good ideas because this is his field. Good luck!
