QMAX21
Hi everyone,I wanted to ask a question, Can a OC or CA pull your credit report when you co-sign on an item with another person if they are looking to collect a debt? My fiancee and me co signed on cutlery a couple of months ago and basically my address and cell phone was put down as the contact info. Recently First National Bank (whom she originally had a credit card account with but paid off over a year ago!) began contacting me and sending mail to my house. ARe they allowed to do this? The only way they could find out about this is if they pulled my Credit file, which I will check later today. The cutlery incident is the only time me and her both cosigned on something. Please respond.
willingtocope
Yep, that's pretty much what cosigning means. If she didn't pay, you agreed to cover it. And, you provided the bank with your info, so they're just following through with making you offers (I assume if the debt was paid, they're not trying to collect anymore, right?) myscoresawful
Hi everyone,I wanted to ask a question, Can a OC or CA pull your credit report when you co-sign on an item with another person if they are looking to collect a debt? My fiancee and me co signed on cutlery a couple of months ago and basically my address and cell phone was put down as the contact info. The cutlery was not financed by this particular bank you are speaking of? The one who is now contacting you? The instituition that financed the cutlery is not contacting you because the payments are being made on time?Recently First National Bank (whom she originally had a credit card account with but paid off over a year ago!) began contacting me and sending mail to my house. If she had a credit card with them, they are allowed to pull her credit file and would have seen your name on that. Now, just because they are sending you mail (and I am assuming here that they are sending you offers?) doesn't mean they saw your credit report...they may have done a soft hit that would only verify your address and name. It is also possible that they didn't see your information on your friends credit report, but by chance are sending you offers and they just happen to be your friends old bank?ARe they allowed to do this? The only way they could find out about this is if they pulled my Credit file, which I will check later today. The cutlery incident is the only time me and her both cosigned on something. Please respond.yep, the best way to find out, is if there is an inquiry on your report. If it is a soft hit, then you know they didn't look at your report.
