jc72
I finally got the nerve to ask my mom about being AU on one of her cards. She whipped out all 17 cards, and said "sure, which one?":p Started with a Visa Beanie Baby card but they don't report....then did Home Depot. The only thing was they didn't ask for SSN. Just our names, address and birthdates. Shouldn't they need the SSN?She's got Sears, Old Navy and AmEx. Think we will do the AmEx next.
jimdiamond
i had my parents do the same for me. i did their citi card they have had since the early 90's. limit 20,000 and only about 5k balance owed. the AU thing does really work as much as people think it does though. i also am on their sears card. pick the cards with the lowest balance/credit ratio and longest time opened. in time you WILL get back to where you want to be. took me about 3 years or so, but just got approved for tens of thousands of dollars in credit through constant disputes, letters, more disputes, more disputes, different reasons for dispute. i think the creditors and collection agencys just reach a point where they have something built in that says after the 10th time verifying this account, we are done. delete the dumb thing. i also informed the FTC.gov of errors and non complying creditors, and credit buerues. nobody wants the FTC on your butt. so i think that helped too, especially wiht equifax. good luckj

JustaTexan
No they don't need your social to report. I have had my best friend added on to my Target and Dillards and they did not ask for her social and have appeared on her report.

I have had my best friend added on to my Target and Dillards and they did not ask for her social and have appeared on her report. Well that's good to know....thanks for the info!! I wonder, however, how that would work in the case of someone with the same name, i.e. John Smith......or John Smith Jr....
JustaTexan
I know, odd huh? I know with Target, they just asked for the AU's name and made me check a box that said the AU had a valid driver's license or state id. It said it was required. All that Dillards asked for was the first and last name! Maybe they do some address comparisons or something. So, no jc72, they don't need your SS# to add you as an AU. I don't know how they do it, but they do. Good luck!
