12+ year debt - beyond 30 days to dispute CA letter - what to do?

I was looking for something earlier and found an unopened envelope stuck between the pages of a magazine (small mailbox, happens sometimes if there's a lot of mail is shoved in it.) Anyway, when I opened it I saw that it was a collection letter for a charge that I'm not 100% sure is even mine and, if by some chance it is, it is from a hospital in a city that I have not lived in over 12 years so the charges would be at least 12 years old

If this were a valid debt, would I be correct in saying this is outside the SOL since the longest term is 6 years for Georgia?

And what, if anything, should I do at this point? It's past the "respond in 30 days" period and I have not gotten anything else from them about this debt. Should I still ask for DV? Should I point out that it is beyond the SOL (almost twice!). Or should I just take a wait and see attitude if it's not showing on my CR? (I haven't pulled on recently and was planning to do so in the next 2 weeks when I have more time to focus on anything that may not be valid. but didn't want to wait to see what I should do about this)

Thanks to anyone that can help!

Because with a DV, it has the same effect as a C&D, until they send the validation. Then, once they send the docs, it is your proof that it is an old debt, and you send a C&D.

wow thanks, I had not really thought of it that way... I guess because they send so little regarding validation but this does make total sense.. thanks for the extra food for thought
