GucciMark
Does anyone have a good reason why the Collection Agents are sucha - holes. I mean, why are they sooooo vehemently opposed to removingPAID collections off your credit report?I don't get it, did they all go to the school of: I'm a Jackass and I have the Power to screw you so I will?I know they will come back and say something like, "It's in our legal right to do it" or "we are obligated to report it"... a cop has the legal right to ticket a j-walker- it doesn't mean he does!Does anyone know why these ( i hate to say people cause they don't act like it but) people are so hostile? especially after you pay them in full. There needs to be better laws in this country to get these removed faster when you pay them in FULL. I can see if you settled for less or something, but when you pay the thing in FULL you should get some kind of reward for that, don't you think? Tazjeepcj7
Depends on if the paid collection is listed by the OC or the CA.
lilwhitepaws
I know exactly what you mean!!! Last year I contacted UCB a CA (before I knew what the heck I was doing) to pay a $77.00 Doctor bill that was listed on my credit report. Mind you this agency did not even know where in the world I was and had never contacted me regarding this bill. I contacted them solely for the purpose of paying off the bill and negotiating to have it removed from my record. The woman I spoke with was so extremely nasty. She upset me so badly that I told her that I called to pay off the d*** bill but since she was so nasty and rude that her and the company she worked for would rot in h*** before I sent them a single dime, especially because the debt was scheduled to be removed from my credit in another year anyway. Of course I am more knowledgeable now having stumbled across this site and I would never again take that kind of abuse without going after someone’s butt. Robert Nashville/Savannah
There are a number of reasons why they are they way they are.For one thing, CAs know that being an a$$ to a debtor is usually the best way to get them to pay up…their whole purpose for existing is to get you so mad or feel so guilty or so ashamed that you’ll pay a five year old Master Card debt before you put food on your table or pay your mortgage payment…they know that if you are thinking clearly you would never pay THEM before you took care of your necessities but if they can get you mad enough; you’ll pay them first and THEY WIN. being in that "mindset" most of the time, you'll oftern find them that way even when there is not good reason for them to be.Second, once the bill has been paid and you are trying to get them to remove the data or you are trying to negotiate a PFD, you are asking for something from them that gives them absolutely nothing and/or making their life more difficult…all they care about is getting your money and if they already have your money or they feel “you” are too much work then all they want to do is move to the next file on their hard drive...it's a numbers game for them and every minute they spend dealing with you is a minute they can't be on the phone trying to get money from someone else that might be easier to bully. Also keep in mind that credit bureaus don’t want reporters (CAs, OCs, etc) to remove derogatory but accurate information…bureaus make their money primarily by gathering and selling this information to potential credit grantors and others…the more those records are artificially “cleaned up” the less valuable those records become to potential lenders and the bureaus don’t want that to happen.
