Being sued by CACH

No need for long explanations of why i did NOT pay on a credit card debt of $5,500 but i didn't. (stupid, i know) Last payment made to credit card company was in December of 2004. In November of 2005 I spoke to a lady working for CACH, who told me they bought the debt which is now $9,400. Why doubled? (btw, she also informed me they bought the debt for $6,000, not sure if this is truth) I then offered to make monthly payments which she declined. I, also, asked for a validation of this debt at that time, she said she would mail me one. Needless to say i never recieved anything from them. Then in July of 2006 I recieved a citation. I immediately called them again and practically begged them to settle this debt with me on monthly payment plans, being refused again. I then sent a letter of settlement to them. I offered a lump sum for 5,500 or 30 monthly payments of $225.00. Again, I never heard from them. I do have documentation of all of this. Now I've been served with a court date. Is it too late to once again try to settle this debt with CACH? Or any advice on where to go from here would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for any help,

Angee

If you have a court date, do not miss that date! This would be an opportunity to plead your case as it seems they are refusing to negotiate with you! Did you file a response saying why you oppose the lawsuit? A judge sympathetic to someone representing himself will listen. If all you want is to the right to pay in installments, the judge may have a harder time saying no to you when you are standing in the courtroom than if you let the creditor get a default because you didn't show up! :please:

When is your court date? You might try DVing them once more. Send it by Fedex. Almost any company will accept Fedex even when they will sometimes refuse to sign for CMRRR. Also dispute with the CRA. Do a search for 1-2 punch. Could buy you more time and give you more ammo for court.

A complete LIE ! They buy these old debts for pennies on the dollar, sometimes less than a penny per $ ! If you originally owed $5500 on a debt from 2004, CACH probably paid 2 or 3 cents a $100-200 for it !!
