someonesomewhere
Is no inquiries ideal? Will even one inquiry adversely affect one's credit score, if only slightly?
SecretAgentWoman
I'm shocked when I hear of people on this board saying things like "I got rid of 22 inquiries!" How the heck do you rack those up?I've got an average of 6 at each (and 1 or 2 of them are from CAs, not credit applications or insurance, employment, etc), not sure I should even worry about removing them, so this is a very good question. hawaiiguy
I read somewhere a few months ago that each inquiry depending on it's type can cost you between two and five points. Not sure how legit this is, but I have had sucess in removing some inquires and my score did jump a small amount.

However, I believe I read somewhere that 6 or more inquires factors into FICO as a negative- "actively seeking credit" and at that point makes an impact- exactly how much in point value- not sure. Asaniwells Financial
Every inquiry into your credit file adversely affects your credit score but many people dont realize this. Every application you put in will require the creditor to look into you file. So if you know that you are not going to get the credit dont even apply for it. I've bought 3 trucks in the past 2 years and when i shop around at different dealers, they always send my info off to numerous lenders. and I bought my house 16 months ago.
