rm2738
Has anyone attempted to or had success negotiating with CC companies to remove late payment history.A female friend of mine has a CC with a limit of 2000 and is pretty much maxed out. She just got he tax return back and wants to pay it off and close it. She's had it for 3 years. I told he not to close it so she can keep the history, but she has had a few late payments. I was thinking that I would help her work with the CC company to pay most of it off and keep a very small balance in exchange for the CC company removing all late payments. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks in advance!
someonesomewhere
Here's my 2 cents worth for you friend.Pay off all but $100 of it. Then pay it off in full over about 3 months. $1900 now, and about $35 or so a month until it's gone. Zero balance.Keep the card and keep the card PIF each month.Once the check for $1900 clears, mail off a Goodwill letter. Don't send it CMRRR as this isn't to establish grounds for a lawsuit or anything. Just polite, friendly, honest (or at least plausible), and a 39 cent stamp. Here are some sample Goodwill letters that have worked for me.http://www.debt-consolidation-credit-repair-service.com/forums/showpost.php?p=746810&postcount=
