 The SOL link here says that in MD the SOL on oral, written and open ended accounts are 3 years and promissory are 6. I have about 6 collections that are dated back to 2001 all the way until 2006. I am wondering what they are considered, they are mostly stupid cell phone stuff and comcast. I am so confused, I have been reading and reading and still do not know how to go about taking them on? Should I DV them right now and wait. If so, will they see the SOL has or is running out and take it off? I am confused. Thanks

The statue of limitations for Maryland is 3 years across the board! There are none for 6 years. Open ended accounts are credit card payments. You need to list each one so we can help you identify them. Believe me, just because they see the statue of limitations...this doesn't ever mean they will take them off! :ROFLMAO2: If anything they will try harder to get money from you! ::drool:: The first thing you should do is get a current copy of your credit report so we can help you with a plan of action. :boxing:

Start off with disputing one of the Sprint accts as a duplicate. You will get one easy delete there.

I would dispute the rest as not mine. The old one (2001) will most likely not respond and will disappear. Your greatest "easy" deletes are in the first dispute.

Once you have your results, then you decide what to do next.

Thanks Mom!!! I am sending the letter tomorrow. Do I put in my dispute letter that it is a duplicate? And do I put in there that I noticed this on my CR and I want a validation?

Remember the dispute letter goes to the CRA not the CA. Validation (DV) goes to CA. I would stick with the dispute first. See what happens. AFTER the CA verifies (if they do) then DV them.

Yes, you point out it is a duplicate.....but if this is your first dispute, you could say: "Acct #1234 and Acct #1234 are duplicates of one another. Regardless, neither account belongs to me. Delete."

If you are lucky, they will both disappear. If not, you get the one deletion.

Some will advise the "not mine" route before the "duplicate" dispute.

It is a matter of personal preference.

So I am disputing with the 3 CB's first then? Is that right? Then wait for what they say. I thought I sent letters to the CA's first? I did a dispute online once awhile ago, maybe 5 months and all it said was "verified" no info as to how or anything. Can I dispute with them again? I need a good dispute letter.

Dispute with the credit bureaus by certified mail. Wait for their reply; if they verify it, send them a letter asking them their "MOV" method of verification. :rollingpin: If they are unable to verify the accounts, they must delete them. It's possible since you disputed five months ago, they may not want to do it again but you can then ask them their "MOV". There is a sample letter on this forum. Remember that collections stay on your report for 7 years. Sometimes you may be fortunate enough to have a company delete it for "PFD" pay for delete. I would first start with the disputes and see where we go from there. Oh....it would also help if you list them so we can help you individually with each ones as possibly there are duplicates. :)++
