trying to get by
I sent a letter to a collection agency on an old credit card account. They replied with a print out of what was ordered. They didn't reply to the request that they show statue of limitations hadn't run out (this account is from 1999-2000) or that they were licenced to collect in my state. They also didn't show that they had been assigned or sold this account or how they are connected to the original creditor. Should I phone them or should I send another letter pointing out the questions they didn't validate?
qtptute
DO NOT CALL THEM!Pull your credit report. See what it says. They must stop all collection efforts and report on your CR that the TL is DISPUTED.If it says anything but disputed, dispute to the CRA.
trying to get by
It is not showing disputed on my CR. Should I write another letter to them and tell them they didn't validate everything especially the statue of limitation which is 4 years in NC (Last activity shows 1/2001). Also I have had a few of those I sent DV letters to show on my CR and put the activity date as now when it was years ago before DV. Can they do that?
