tylersdad06
just wondering if it is illegal to place something on someones credit report twice. i have a few of those where a credit agency has posted a debt and then sent it to a different credit agency who has placed it on my report to. and i am trying to straighten my credit out but i can't get all of this stuff off of there with all these people leaving things on my credit that i have already payed for
willingtocope
It is possible for the same legitimate debt to appear on your reports several times. For example, if you have say a CC debt...there's once for the original creditor (OC), and maybe once for a collection agency (CA) that the OC contracted with to handle the collections. If the debt has been "sold to another lender", then there's one for the OC, one for the junk debt buyer (JDB), and one for the CA collecting for the JDB.On the other hand, if the OC gave it to CA1 who couldn't collect so they sent it back to the OC who then contracted with CA2, then CA1 has no reason to be on your reports. So, bottom line is...you need to sort out who all these people are to decide if they should be reporting...
