redbank
--I did step one, I have my 3 reports....--now step 2, disputing. Do i dispute all or do i pick and choose? I have 2 accounts that were paid back in early 2003, now by all rights they should stay there for the 7 years. I understand that. Can i dispute those too just to see if they will drop off?--I see the sample letters area, since i dispute with CB first (right?), there are two letters for first dispute, a single listing letter and a multiple listing letter done list style.... is one better to do than the other or are both equally effective? Thank you so much for your time and patience. OH-- i got my reports, but do i need to get my scores and why?
VonAngel (aka EarthAngel)
You should start by reading Dive's credit primer. It'll guide you thru the steps. Also, you don't get your scores free. You must pay for them at www.myfico.com.
stormywsmn
I disputed all of the negative TL's with my first round of disputes. It worked great because a lot of them fell off. Now that I am trying to do the DV process its really biting me in the butt. I have changed my reasons for dispute and I am now choosing to dispute only those TL's I'm DV'ing but still the CRA's are being a pita about doing the investigations. Now my timeline is all messed up. I probably should have waited a month or two to DV - maybe that would have helped, but now that I've done it I have to stick to my guns. 5thsfg
you don't need to get your credit scores but a lot of people do ...so they can judge their progress...there not cheap to get ...so i only get them when something changes .let's say you dispute everything on your CR the investigation comes back and over 50% of the negitives fall ..i would check my scores again ....but everyone is differantit would be like going on a diet and not knowing what your starting weight is
redbank
Yea i saw dive's credit primer, but after staring at this stuff every free minute of the day for like the past 6 days.... I think I am going brain dead and just need a little assurance. Going to print it and stick it under my pillow tonight to see if i can get osmosis going. lol I guess I will also sleep on it if i should get the score or not. Would be nice, but money is tight.stormywsmn- are they being a pita cause you changed your reason or just because?
someonesomewhere
Not to pile on the reading assignments, but I think this will help.http://www.debt-consolidation-credit-repair-service.com/forums/showthread.php?t=264049
stormywsmn
stormywsmn- are they being a pita cause you changed your reason or just because? They've come back with bogus stuff about verifying my address (they've already sent 4 or 5 reports to this address). I sent proof. Transunion just flat out refused as frivilous.

However, if you're going to pursue MOV, it's only because you're willing to sue CRAs for violations.
