What is the maximum number of creditors you've added to your Bankruptcy Papers?

Is there a limit? For those who have filed, what is the maximum number of creditors you've discharged with bankruptcy at one time? Also, can I discharge civil judgments I've received from credit card debt? I'm unemployed, disabled, and receiving SSI income, so I have no assets.

When you file BK...you list ALL your creditors. And, even the ones you might forget to list are still discharged. (We did about 30 as I remember).

Hi Willingtocope! What if I can't remember the original account numbers, or if the amount I list is actually less after interest etc has been added? Will the debts still be discharged? Also, about 18 years ago, someone wrote checks in my name without my permission which bounced. I explained to the bank and collectors I was not responsible for the debt. They stopped contacting me, but they still have it listed as my debt. Should I add these accounts to my bankruptcy as well? I would refer not to, because I don't want to give the impression its my debt. Also, I've resumed payments with a debt buyer on a debt that was six years old, but still within sol, can I still add them to be discharged?

Talk it all over with your BK attorney. They'll know what the trustee's in the area expect.

One way to do it is to work off your credit reports. List all the creditors that are there. (And, it doesn't really matter if they weren't yours to begin with...any liability they might think you had for them will be discharged).

The debt from these checks are no longer on my credit report. This has been almost a decade ago, but I'll ask the attorney when I find one. I'm searching for a bankruptcy office now. I hope someone will help me for under $1000.

There is no limit on the number of creditors you can list.

Use your credit reports and list EVERY creditor and collection agency on there. For debts that are 10 years old, the statute of limitations has expired, so it's less of a problem. However, in most districts, ALL pre-petition debts, listed or not, are considered discharged in a no-asset Chapter 7.

Judgments - the underlying debt will be discharged, and a BK lawyer can submit the paperwork to vacate the judgment post-discharge - or you can do it yourself. Judgments accrue statutory interest, so you may have years of interest added on.
