There is a caveat!! First call he o.c. first to find out the status of all the negatives on your report. Yes some accounts may be in collections you can deal directly with th o.c.!! Once you find out who is holding your account deal with them. For example always deal with the o.c. unless they tell you must now deal the c.a. Second you must consider how old these negatives are if they are older than 3 years negotiate for 75% of the balance but if the fall off date is less than 2 years away do nothing just wait!! But if you need to clear your reports( you must be buying a house) then take the above steps. Make sure you get everything in writing the creditor may not live up to there end of the deal and you will need that letter to send to the credit bureaus as evidence!!

Yes, definetely read the primer!! (Link above). You could seriously hurt yourself if you proceed on your own. And NEVER call a CA or an OC!! Keep everything in writing. Remember, if it's not in writing it never happened. Start reading these posts and before you know it your scores will start to go up.
