Afro-M
I got a default judgement in '05 from CrapOne. They proceeded to freeze my acct which only had about $3.00 in it. I have not paid them...so now my $300 card is now worth over $1000 to them. Recently they hired a law firm to start calling me. I answer the phone only to get a recorded message asking me to call back (are you kidding me???). My question is this: Is there anything I can do to make this go away short of paying $700 over what I really charged on the card? Also, the judgement never made it to my credit report. Do I need to worry about it being placed on my credit report in the future? Also, one more question slightly off this topic:does DV only work if you respond within the 30 days after first receiving the letter from the CA, or can you DV anytime? Thanks to all you brilliant minds out there! Also your judgement may not make it to the CR . I live in a county where they are NOT online and that is a big plus because you actually have to trek to our little courthouse and dig through ancient computers to find this stuff.. most creditors dont bother. I have two and in three years none of them are on my CRIF your county is online then its easier to obtain this info. Also double check this amount because if you do have a judgment the amount of interest they can charged is dicated by your state law after the judgement has been awarded.
