Judgement Q~

I don't know if this belongs in this forum or not, but here it goes.

Back in 2000 I hit some financial trouble and got 3 months behind on my American General Finance pmts. A summons was left on my landlord's door, my entrance was in the back of the house. It was a summons for judgement. I called the AGF office and explained the situation. I was told if I got them the past due amt I would be caught up and would not have to appear in court.

This is what I did, but the judgement was placed. Here is the funny part: I kept paying on the loan for the next 4 years as stated and was never late. I paid off the loan and the judgement reads Civil Claim Paid. The acct for AGF reads Paid/Closed/Never Late. Now every time I look at my CR it chaps my hind parts to see those 2 items. The CR (EX) states the Judgement is due to come off in Oct. 2007. I'd like to get it off ASAP. Does this have to be done through the court, or do you think a goodwill letter of some sort to the CEO could get it removed? Or should I suck it up and hope it comes off in Oct.? Advice please.

As always, your input is greatly appreciated.:notworthy:

Unfortuntely, it appears as though you agreed to settle out of court--which still resulted in the judgement AND they got their money to boot. Than again, it sounds like they kinda lied to ya when they told ya not to bother to appear in court...:( If there was a court date, you should've been there.

If it were me, I guess I'd just let sleeping dogs lie. Had this happened say, last year-that would've been different.

One idea if you're set on going to war on this item--go look up this case file in court to see what all happened and what all they got away with doing. Maybe you can catch them on something and get this removed...but by the time all this happens you may end up quite close to Oct of 2007 anyway.

Sorry. JMO.
