Kat99
This is my first posting so hope I do it right: I had a sprint collection on my report that a collection company posted over a yr ago and all of a sudden I get alerted that new derogatory items have appeared. It is the same Sprint acct only now the original ones are gone and they are replaced as if they were brand new stating the reporting date of 1/07 and it is a different credit collection company. If items are removed after 7 yrs and collection companies can change the date, how do we ever meet the 7 yr. Pls help

Pls helpThey are not allowed to change the date, but they do it anyway; as long as they can get away with it. That's what the dispute process is for. Kat99
Had a similar situation. What CA did Sprint Refer your account to?The new collection company is called Collections of America. It appears that Sprint must have turned the acct over to another collection company and the old collection company removed the accts so the new one could add them back on as new. Kat99
did they do the same thing? Can you refer me to some legal verbaige citing that they cannot remove and add a new to appear as a new derogatory? I have my credit report from last year showing the exact same derogatory. chilton1
I dont have the info on that. I just know that they change one of mine to be a new collection from 2/07 when they have had it on the report since 04 and the OC is due to fall off soon. I have read about "report poisoning" may be someone else can answer if they know how to deal with that. I am basically waiting for the SOl to be up in may and then after May I will file a law suit for all their violations. Also the DOLA activity with the OC was may 02; they have changed there to be nov 02. Kat99
Can anyone give me some advice on what to do about a very old item on my report. I monitor via True Credit and there is an acct on my Experian report that is from 03/1988 Reported: 08/31/1997 and the status shows as closed/paid and when viewing more info on acct is states that the acct was closed by credit grantor request. Is this a negative on my report? I dont know if this will hurt me to remove it or not. thnx

hiblues
if it shows as a collection, you should get rid of it.if it is a positive, leave it on.if the DOFD was back in 98, dispute as outdated if you want it removed.I've read people on this site doing the following to delete more current negatives..... You dispute (not DV) info with CA>then you immediately dispute with CRA> CA (hopefully) verifies the debt to the CRA> thus violating FCRA 623(a)(3) by providing false information> you ask CRA for method of verification> it comes back as the CA who verified the info> you send CA a letter of ITS because they of said violation and demand them to delete TL> they delete TL (hopefully without incident) and you live happily ever after ; Never to allow any other bill to go the a nasty CA. Kat99
believe it or not, i have 3 negatives on my reports and they are all under $300/ea. I have one for a medical center that is for $112 and it has been turned over to a CA. I want to pay it and see if i can get it off. should i just contact the OC and see if i can pay and have them remove (get in writing from them first. Any ideas as it is soooo small and doing so much damage. thnx
