ctom
I have a charge off cc that went into collections which i know is my debt. The problem I have I have sent 2 letters asking in writing that they only contact me by mail and give the info I requested before I make any payment arrangements and they keep sending me settlement letter and ignoring my requests. I really want to settle this once and for all but not without a letter stating they will not resell the remainder of the debt to another CA and a pfd. Like a dummy i went to a debt settlement company and they went out of business and i lost all my money so now I am in this situation. What do you suggest I do if I don't get anything in writing? The balance is incorrect too.Cat
msfinance72
CAs often do not return direct responses to letters...sometimes a "full settlement" clause will suffice as defense if they do sell the remainder to another agency after you settle...a typical settlement is 50% of the current balance...if you have a kind of "last statement" and know what that balance is you can continue to try and settle for 50% of that "last statement" balance...determine what you can reasonable afford and pay if the debt is indeed yours...best of luck...
