Is the OC's TL still on your reports?

No ...they never inserted any item

Was it just a CA that deleted, or were they really a JDB?

It was just the CA that deleted.....i don't think they were a JDB...they actually still reference the OC, so, I think they were just collecting for the OC.

What kind of account? How much?

It was Comcast cable account, $250.00

Does that help ??

Okay, makes sense. Most utilities never report, unless its a derog..

It is possible that the CA who deleted for you just sent it back to the OC...and either the OC or another CA will pop back up again.

The only way to put a stop to it is contact the OC. Tell them "...gee whiz, forgot all about you guys, can I just pay you now?". Otherwise, its likely to keep bouncing out to CAs until the SOL for your state.

Yes, thats what I thought could happen...because the debt actually still exists with the OC...

How old is this bill? Have you gone through the steps of disputing with the CRA's? I'm assuming you DV'd the CA to get the delete. How about asking the OC to validate? Read the link at the very top of this page. You are allowed to ask the OC to validate-they may not answer, but it's worth a try.

If you do call the OC and decide to pay this, at least negotiate for a PFD. Remember, having a paid collection on your report is no better for your score than having it show unpaid. You have nothing to gain by paying it if they won't delete. Use this info when you negotiate with them and GET IT IN WRITING. If it's not in writing it never happened. Don't pay until you receive the paper guaranteeing deletion.

If the OC never inserted this on any report and you just got a deletion from the CA, then I would just leave well enough alone, why borrow trouble? If it ever appears on a report, either from the OC or another CA, you can deal with it then. Just make sure you check your reports periodically for any new TL's.

Admin,

thanks very much. please, I want to ask about your personal opinion on how I should handle two accounts (sorry, i posted these questions already in other forums, but want further advice)

1. NCO Collecting for Suntrust Bank Overdraft: $232 <Note this amount is also reported to ChexSystems)

2. Allied Collecting for DirectTV: $80.

Both accounts are within the statute of limitations - I live in PA. And I have DV'd them.

I am wondering if it would be better to settle these two accounts (especially the Suntrust one) and arrange for a deletion, since they are so new, and they can probably validate. I called the bank, and they were able to get me the account number, the correct balance, and the name of the collection agency acting on their behalf. I didn't admit the debt, but i think they must have accurate informaiton on the account. As a result, i thought of paying it in full (to get a deletion from the CRAs and removal from ChexSystems)

I am thinking of settling the 85$ amount with DirectTV too - so i can remove them from my reports. But what happens, if they don't accept my offer to remove, and only agree to list it as paid collection...then what options do i have...?

What would you advice I do?

Thanks for an informative board - Y

If it reappears AND the CRA hasn't sent you the "we've reinserted this item" letter, the CRA owes you $1000.

I have a question about this. If this has happened more than once (for the same account) would the CRA owe you $1k each time it's reinserted or just $1k?
