BIG COOP
I am in the process of settling debts with various collection agencies. My first 2 offers were declined. In my 3rd offer, I offered to pay the debts in full if they were willing to delete all entries from my credit reports. If this offer is declined, what other steps can I take to help settle this matter??

someonesomewhere
Has the SOL run?Are they still calling you? If so, SC is a one party state for the recording of telephone calls.http://www.rcfp.org/taping/states/southcarolina.htmlIf you can catch 'em in violations on tape, then you can sue 'em and offer a deletion as your settlement terms. Get 'em on enough violations, and they will be paying you.
Yawo64
You can also try dealing with the OC, if they still hold the debt, and it is still within the SOL.rgds, Y
Big Time
Awesome screen name! The CA's smell blood on you. They are evil entities whos only goal is to drain every last drop from you.Being willing to pay what you legitimatly owe shows integrity, but they will actually try to use it against you, so you have to be shrewd.Make sure all your offers are in writing and make it clear that you only have so much money to settle, and let them know that if they are unwilling to accept your offers, they won't get paid at all. All the while, make sure you document any violations. Particilarly, get hard copies of your credit reports from the big three. CA's almost always mess something up. Include demands to fix the dates or amounts or DOL with your settlement letters, CMRRR. Even with the best of intentions, you still may have to get litigious to be treated fairly.Without knowing more, I'd day that in your case, just take the "paid collection" or "Settled for less that ..." hits on your credit for now, wait about 4 months, then dispute them with the CRA's.Once paid, the CA's probably won't want to spend a lot of time validating when theres no more money in it for them, and you'll be rid of most of their tradelines by month five.Give yourself a full year to finally clean them all off. sjokinley
Did you start at the beginning and dispute these TL's with the CRA's? Then DV the CA's? I certainly wouldn't try to pay them before you do these things. Read the following link for the exact strategy for clearing your reports:http://www.debt-consolidation-credit-repair-service.com/forums/showthread.php?t=263069Also, if you end up paying them make sure you negotiate for PFD. Having a paid collection on your report is no better than showing unpaid, even if it's the noble thing to do.
