Pretty Good Idea, Once You're Past Credit Repair and into Credit Monitoring

Recommended Posts

I found this thread while googling for info on the Browning-Experian lawsuit settlement. It smelled like a phishing scam to me.

Under federal law, all U.S. citizens are eligible for a free copy of their credit report from each of the three major credit reporting bureaus: Experian, Equifax and Trans Union. Consumers should take advantage of this benefit, but only by visiting http://www.annualcreditreport.com or calling a toll-free number: 1-877-322-8228. YOU WILL GET THE MOST MILEAGE OUT OF YOUR FREE REPORTS IF YOU SCATTER THEM ACROSS THE ENTIRE CALENDAR YEAR BY CONTACTING A DIFFERENT CREDIT BUREAU EVERY FOUR MONTHS.

Not really helpful since all 3 CRAs rarely report the same exact information. Some creditors or CAs don't report to all 3 and many times 1 creditor reports different info amongst the 3.

OK, points taken. I get it now. I just read this thread, as if what y'all said wasn't enough.

With FICO scores in the 800s, I would use annualcreditreport.com to pull all three, and then use a 3 report monitoring service for one month every 3 months to get a quarterly update.
