wzelewsky
If you have CAs on your CR, is there something you can do like call or send them something asking for removel if paid. I want to see if we can settle on lower amount, I know they will do that.. But do you call them first or write a letter??? Im am sure I have seen this posted somewhere on here, but cant find it now.. myscoresawful
First of all, never...never ...if at all possible, call a CA. Writing letters take a little more time and cost a bit due to sending CRRR, but it is well worth it in the long run.You can send them a letter ( I would send a DV first, if you have not already, and dispute with the CRAs that it is reporting to), of PFD (pay for deletion).Sometimes they will only agree to a PFD if you pay in full, sometimes not even then, but its always best to try the tactic that benefits you the most, first. If they agree to a PFD, be sure to get it in writing, on their letter head, signed by someone authorized to do so in their agency.Even then, write on the check or money order that you are sending them (never give them your bank info to allow them to do an electronic check or check by phone)...but in the "for" line, put the account number of the collection, bal: 0, PIF, remove reporting. That is something that a person who works for a collection agency once told me to do.One thing you also need to consider is the age and amount of the debt. If it is a large amount that you are in no way able to pay right now, and the SOL in your state for such a debt has not expired on it, and no one is actively trying to collect it from you, then think twice about "rocking the boat". You could find your self the target of a judgement which would be a lot more damaging to your credit report than the actual collection account itself. divemedic
I would not just offer to pay, that will reset the SOL in many states. Try DV first.
wzelewsky
I had already sent them CMRRR and received one back (these are older than 30 days). It was a CA for a hospital. From what I read, it sounds like have to pay that one. But the other one I havent received a letter back, I know they can take as long as they want (are you talken months?) So what happens if this one doesnt respond, do I just settle with them?
