RSB
Does State Farm, or Farmers Insurance, or any other insurance company check your credit score before selling you car insurance? Do they adjust the rate according to your credit score?
ctnmkp
At least in my state, Idaho, Farmer's checked our credit for automobile insurance. We switched to Farmer's for auto insurance when we bought our house b/c we decided to use them for homeowner's. They ran a credit check through Equifax on both my husband and I. Our rate was not adjusted and we did not receive any correspondence concerning rates due to our credit scores at the time, so I can't really answer that part of your question. Hopefully someone can chime in and help out in that area:).HTH!
direred
Yes, they do, and they're supposed to give an adverse action notice if you don't get the best rate. Before renewing our policy each year, Amica pulls a soft on EX.Our rates went down, dunno quite why, but I'm hoping it's because my credit is better and not because my car is one year older. JustaTexan
The 2 insuranec companies that I have had, Geico and Allstate, both have ran my credit. They never show up as hard pulls though, only soft. Allstate put me on some customer credit tier and they said I was closer to the "bottom" of the credit tier, so my rate was a little higher. This was about 3 years ago though.
