Best way to handle this

Hello all.

I have a charge-off from NFCU for $3300 from 2002. They will not close a savings account I had through them and left $1 in it. They use that little itty bit of interest to apply to the DOLA once every 2-3 months. So yes the last time I spoke to someone with from NCFU was 2002, it looks as though I paid them an amount last month. I have disputed this 2 times through the 3 CRA's amd it came back as verified each time. I know NCFU has no documentation, there is no loan agreement with my signature on it. I know this for fact. I believe they have nothing and that is why they have never attempted to sue me. I wrote to the NFCU CMRRR and I'm disputing verification through them. Im expecting one of two things. One, they'll respond with a summons. Two, no response or some BS letter with no verification and a lot of threats. If one happens, Im ready to settle immediately for the full amount, out of court preferrably. I will just dispute it through the CRA's again and submit my results. Anyone else here been in my shoes on something like this? Your input is deeply appreciated.

By the way, I'd like to thank everyone here for all the information. I have removed 5 of 7 neg collections from my report in the past 6 mos. Hopefully those last 2 shoud be off in 2-3mos. I have disputed with OC and got response. I sent my results to the CRA's and requested Method of Verification, so hopefully those will be off soon. Just 2 accounts with late pays and 2 chargeoff's and Im all clear. Thanks again.
