EDITED TO ADD: Ok i just wanna add that I started this post this afternoon, and forgot to submit. So I get home, hit submit, and then looked and saw that a success story was just posted on Capital One. Are there any others?

ORIGINAL POST

There are so many tidbits of info on Capital One, aka Crap One, that I am getting confused.

I have tradelines for Capital One on all of the big 3 reports. It was opened in 11/2000. Went late a few times, paid it off and they closed the account, actually I may have requested it when I paid it off in 2003. Anyhow, its been paid for 4 years. Let me know if I need to copy and paste the tradelines from my reports.

Well my point is, I searched the forum and I am seeing that they are hard, and they don't let go of anything, and they keep good records.... so is there a special way to handle them?

Are there any Capital One success stories?

I called them a couple years back and asked them if enough time had passed for them to re-open the account. They re-evaluated my credit but alas, no. My highest balance was $267 dollars.

Sending off my first round of dispute letters to the CRA's (hopefully), so I wonder if i need to go ahead and include Capitol One in my letters or save them for something special.

ok, I guess I should take it that as no has success stories with capital one except the person that posted the other day....

Does anyone still get monthly statements from them 4 years after you paid off and closed the account? Seems as though they review my account with a soft pull with TransUnion every month. Is this normal?

What if i clean up the credit, and trying to get them to re-open it again? Anyone has success with that?

Well when the account was open and I had no lates, yea, I was happy too.

I got in a car wreck and my life went upside down. I absolutely could not pay the bills. I mean I had the money, just could not bring myself to even open the envelopes much less pick up a pen to write a check. I was like mentally off for a year. It was like some sort of wierd depression, either that or a head injury. I did break my nose...

I paid them off a year later. So now I have a closed account, that was paid in full, with a 150 day late, a 120 day late, and two 30 day lates on it leaving a nasty mark on my report. It will fall off Oct of 2009.....

They are an original creditor too, so most of the rules talked about here are actually not for them. (insert sigh)

What about a goodwill VIDEO... has anyone tried that yet? Send it fedex... A goodwill video would capture the tears that a letter could not....

LOL

If you've done a search and read even a slight amount of info on Crap one then I'm sure you've come to the conclusion that winning a "victory" over them is about as likely as winning the lottery...... Unlikely but not impossible.

A goodwill video.... now that's a new one! But hey- if it works for you- you MUST post it on YouTube so we can all enjoy!!!
