What to do about new CA showing up on CR?

I just discovered 2 new paid collection accounts and I am not sure how to deal with them. A few facts:

1) They are both with the same agency.

2) They are both for the same amount ($47)

3) They are only being reported to EQ, not the other 2 bureaus.

4) They have no identifying information on them. No original creditor or creditor name - just a 6 digit account number.

5) They show an open date of 4/2003 and 7/2003, but they were only reported in 9/2006 and 2/2007 (last month!)

I called the CA to see wth was going on, and the girl said that there should only be one listed, and that they would be on my CR for 7 years from the time they were reported. As in 7 years from last month. How can that be possible???

I was trying to get a refi, but my credit score was 2 points below what they needed to do it, and part of that was listed as 'too many collections.'

It will be on your report for 7 years... but... It should be 7 years from date of first deliquency.. not from reported date.... try DV'ing them, do not talk on the phone.... search the boards for how to DV there is a flow chart that you can use to follow the DV process http://www.creditinfocenter.com/rebuild/debt_validation_workflow.shtml

I hope that this helps you

They should report 7 yrs. from DOFD, date of first delinquency. I usually don't talk to CA's but since you did already, did she tell you they were going to remove the duplicate one? I would definitely try to get them to do this immediately. I would also dispute with the CRA's and once the change is made, request that they send the corrected report to anyone who has requested your report within the last 90 days.

No, she said that I would have to dispute it to get the second one off. Basically, they know something is wrong but claim they can't do anything about it. Of course, this only shows up on one bureau and is completely fouled up even on that bureau. I don't even know what the heck it is for.
