akins503
I am thinking of hiring a credit repair co. Can any one recommend one. I am aware I can don this myself but am strongly considering hiring one. Does anyone know if Fowler and Fowler is any good. Haven't made a concrete decision yet. divemedic
Most of them are not going to do as good of a job as you can do yourself, and many of them do little more than take your money.
willingtocope
One of the biggest reasons for NOT hiring a debt fixer or a debt cleaner is , the American Bar Association points out that with the wording that is in the FCRA, if you get use someone to help you deal with any of your debts, you give up the protection of the FCRA in case any debts are reported inaccurately

ndbilly
I have been doing my own repair but my buddy hired the firm Credit Attorney PC 5 months ago and is seeing wonerful results. his choices came down to lexington and the one he is now with. he purchased the platnum version and says he is very pleased. he had 21 negatives with a BK. to my surprise he got the BK deleted first along with 6 others. this is just what he told me but I perfer to do it myself. CantCU
My friend went with a credit fixer. Took her money, never paid a bill. She got sued by Discover and they never even offered to help her. I tried to tell her she'd be better off doing it herself. Right now, her credit would have been more repairable with a BK than how it stands. I'm quite leery of them.
ndbilly
but I am sure there are CR agencies that are good out there. it's just in my opinion that not all can be bad. but for me I am doing it myself but as for my friend he neither has the time or the patience to conduct this process himself. I will say however that this repair company is doing him just fine.
willingtocope
but I am sure there are CR agencies that are good out there. it's just in my opinion that not all can be bad.In the same way that there are indeed some people in debt who planned on running up their credit cards and then defaulting on their obligations...who never had medical problems, or job loss, or marriage breakup, or any of that...then, yes, there may be one or two "good" CAs. The problem is every single CA I've ever dealt with or heard about treats all people the same. Like dead beat scum.
