fruitpassions
I never worried about my husbands credit score too much until recently. We want to rent a house but cant because of his credit. He was in a motorcycle accident Oct 2003, as a result he lost his apartment, couldnt pay on his credit cards or any other accounts he may of had. We're going to dispute most of the accounts that showed up when we got report off freecreditreport. But the report didn't show his medical bills. Why wouldnt those show? He has over 100,000 in medical. Which would be hard for us to pay off! I was thinking we could consolidate his debts to make his report look better, but not sure he wants to. He says he wants to let them all fall off. Is that better? I do not know much about this! Also since he lost his place he has an eviction on his record. If we paid the place off will the eviction go away? We really gotta get this fixed!Oh and can he really build over his credit? We just bought a car and we're told thats going to raise/fix his credit alot.~concerned wife~

At first the score might drop a bit, but within about 6 months, will start helping your score, if you make the payments on time. That's true.I have to assume that your credit is now combined, (if it wasn't before, it will be most likely after applying for credit together, especially if you were approved. (Example, if you both applied for the car to be in your name, now when you pull just your credit report, it will most likely show all of your husbands credit as well, on yours...and vice versa)if that is already happening, and you were able to buy a car, then the credit is probably not *too* bad, and I am willing to bet the only reason you were turned down for the rental is due to the eviction alone.I say this because I use to be a leasing agent. If credit was 620 or better, they could move in that day...if it was something like 560 - 620, they needed an extra deposit, if it was below 560, they needed a good co sign. if it was 800, and they had an eviction or owed another property management money, it was automatically denied. You said his medical records were not showing up. Count your blessings. Hopefully they will never show up.One thing you might want to consider, and this really may be your only option:Write the management of your husbands old apartment a CRRR letter of goodwill. Don't just right the manager of the apartment building, write the OWNER of it, if they are not the same. Explain about the accident and hardship it had caused your husband financially and offer to pay the bill if they will remove the eviction from your credit report. Most of the time property managements are faithful to reporting these things because it is a useful tool when they go to rent to someone else. All too often, it prevents them from renting to an otherwise good tenant that has simply had previous bad luck, (like your husbands accident) that can not be a financially responsible renter.I wish you good luck,April
fruitpassions
well it turns out we got the house because the apartment said they no longer had any records of him which is good! that mean we can get them off his report? we're gonna dv everything on there to see what we can get rid of. I didnt know our credit would be combined....so does that mean im lower then 651 now?
