Can Credit Card See Bank Account?

Hi,

I had a question that just occurred to me. I have a Chase issued credit card (MasterCard) and I also bank with Chase. Can the credit card "see" my bank account? Or is their some separation between the two? Can they legally touch my bank account without court order? I live in Texas. I assume there is separation and they don't readily have access to bank accounts. I could be wrong though.

BTW: I'm behind on my Chase card and going to try to settle with them (although they've assigned it to a CA already).

Damn. That sucks. I saw on another post after I posted this thread and said Credit Unions are the only ones that can raid an account. I live in Texas, not sure if that makes any difference. I see what you are saying. I just got a tax refund in but unfortunately its spoken for and will go to pay other taxes. I just didn't want to wake up one morning and have the funds gone. I guess I'll be making a trip to the bank.

Unfortunately I don't have either agreements to look up whether or not they can cross-collect. So far they haven't tried.

I have a Well Fargo account that was opened when I was a student. It came in a nice little package with a checking, savings, and a credit card. I was a poor unemployed student. I couldn't even keep money in my savings account. I defaulted on the Wells Fargo credit card. I was always concerned about WF taking money from my checking but I never closed down the checking account because I was afraid I would not qualify for a checking account anywhere else. WF never took any money. They sold it to a collection agency.
