verify information

Hello All

I just came across this board while surfing and find it has alot of information. I have been looking at all of it, questions and answers however I haven't run across the question I have yet so decieded to use it for my first post.

I have been trying to clean up some negative reports on my credit report. I got back the answer on a disputed one from the credit reporting agency that it had been verified. I did get to talk to a real person for a change at there business and all the rep would tell me is that it had been verified. When I asked by who and how he told me it was not there responsibility to give me that information that I needed to contact the original company that had reported it and take it up with them to correct any incorrect information they had reported. I thought by law the credit reporting agency's had to tell you how they verified it by some contact they talked to or? If anyone has any help on this it would be greatly appreciated. It's been my experience that they don't contact anyone they just tell you its been verified as correct and it stays there. They don't have to provide to me any proof how and who verified it? Thanks for any help

does it really matter how they verified it?

You want it removed right.. :-) :-) :-):-D :-D

For Verification, most companies use eOscar now, it an automated response system.

Read this link to learn how to get it removed

hiblues,

Thanks for your suggestions I went and read where you told me to but it refers more to CA's however I am not fighting any collections agancy's. I did a chpt 7 2 years ago and some of the bad credit from some of the creditors was my husbands debt and not mine. I have sent numerous disputes to the CRA's and have gotten some of them removed but most of there answers now are I need to take it up with the original creditor. The CRA claims they have verified and thats all they need to do. When I ask them how or who they verfiied with they say to contact the original creditor but can't give me who it was they contacted. Basically thats my problem not theres. I have no idea how they have verfied anything.

Also some of my good credit went away on one of the CRA'S and when I asked them about it they said the original creditor most likely quit reporting. They say I can contact them as well to ask them to re report other than that they won't put it back on. I never new good credit went away.

Last but not least: I have noticed that the time for some of this bad credit remaining on my report keeps changing Usually longer. When does the time start for the 7 years for when they have to remove it? Thanks

This is what you are looking for. The reporting period for delinquent debts is:

§ 605. Requirements relating to information contained in consumer reports [15 U.S.C. §1681c]

© Running of Reporting Period

(1) In general. The 7-year period referred to in paragraphs (4) and (6)

3 of subsection (a) shall begin, with respect to any delinquent account that is placed for collection (internally or by referral to a third party, whichever is earlier), charged to profit and loss, or subjected to any similar action, upon the expiration of the 180-day period beginning on the date of the commencement of the delinquency which immediately preceded the collection activity, charge to profit and loss, or similar action.

Most negative information should be removed 7 1/2 years from the DOFD. Period. If it is not removed you need to dispute with the CRA as reporting past the 7 year mark. I say most neg info because there are exeptions to that. Federal student loans, judgments, etc. Is that what you are asking?

Hi MadinKS,

What I am trying to say is, A delinquent account that still belongs to the OC will show Date of last activity. Then show another date that says Date missed or Del. and it is always updated to a new year. Usually in my situation dates of last activity are the dates that the account became del.

Example from CSC:

Items As Of Date Reported 2/2004 Date last reported 8/2003 : Date Last Activity 8/2003: Date missed or Del 1st Rptd (nothing posted) Down below says current status- Over 120 days past due. This account would have been del or missed in 8/2003. It has been closed for some time so can hardly be 120 days late. Was also discharged in a BK 7

Anything left on my CR was discharged through a BK7 over 2 yrs ago and I have had nothing bad since then. I only have 5 neg to deal with and that includes the BK its self. Most left on are credit card accounts.

Of course the CRA always tells me it was verified and remains the same. Even though they can't tell me with who or how. Well they do say who "the OC" but no phone or contact number. They say thats my problem I need to take it up with the OC.

Then on some of the others the date of last report is as late as 2006 with a last activity being 12/2003 and first late or missed pmt 11/2005. All these accounts were discharged through a Chap 7 BK 2 yrs ago.

So when does the 7 yrs start for the time period? I know some of these were missed or del before the dates listed. All of them are with OC not a CA.

Doesen't the CRA have to provide with who and how they verify?
