CantCU
I debated asking this question here, or in the Credit Bureau forum, but I opted here since in involves a CA.This was never reported to the CRA's until it was bought by a JDB in 2005. A long time ago, I disputed it with the CRA's and it came back "verified". This was before I found this great website, and so, I never bothered it again...figured it would fall off in time. Opened in 2000, DOLA not given (but I do have my contract & copy of my cancelled check for the last payment I made wiich was in 2002). 6 year SOL (I found out in another post).I was going back through some of my old credit reports and found this entry when I disputed it: "Account verified by XYZ Collections, and then gives their address & phone #.Can a CA legally report FOR the OC? TU & EQ deleted it. EX has not and that is my highest score. I don't want to do anything that would endanger that. Just curious if this is truly legal. MadinKS
So the CA is not listed in your CR? Does the OC account say sold or transferred? I would imagine that if the debt was sold that, no, they can't update for the OC, but if it is just assigned maybe they can. I didn't see anything in the FCRA addressing that particular circumstance. I am no expert but maybe some of the experts will clear this muddy one up for us.
