Who is FIRST USA? What card is that?

Recommended Posts

I have not applied for any new credit in weeks and in the last 10 days FIRST USA has pulled experian twice. Looking into my report further they've pulled my report 7 times since November. WHO ARE THEY???

Recently I've had to deal with a minor bit of identity theft but its been minor with cd/dvd packages sent to my home and magazine subscriptions. Someone who doesn't like me just used my name to send me a few extra bills. Thanksfully, It never esculated to credit and its easy to take care of.

I'm just worried this new alert last night is something fraudulant since I did not authorize that inquiry. I have a fraud alert on my report so hopefully no credit was granted but who is this company???

I put this question in this forum because I figure those who obtrain credit might know who this creditor is. Sorry if needs to be moved.

Have you Opted Out?

As IHateCAs said, these may be promotional inquiries. That happens when the CRA's sell your identifying data to CC companies for solicitation purposes. They only see your name and address, which only hits as a a soft inquiry. If it distresses you, Opt Out of this practice by calling the number maintained by the FTC. Shouldn't be too hard to locate... :)

Like I said, the OP has a Chase Disney (through First USA) card. The pulls are pretty obviously ARs.

Oh I have been so busy I have not been able to respond. Sorry about that.

I do have 2 chase cards and the Disney card is new. I didn't apply for a new card this week to intiate the pull however I did request a credit line increase so I am pretty sure that is why I got the inquiry. They give me a hard pull each time I increase. 2 recent inquiries and two recent cli requests from them explains it now.

I have opted out and they are in fact hard pulls.

I was worried somebody might have tried to obtain a card in my name but now it makes sense its a hard pull for the CLI.

Thanks a bunch for the info and everyone being helpful.

OK, next time please specify that they are hard pulls. Although it's still unclear about the 7 pulls since November. That sounds like AR (soft) pulls, but your posts are unclear about that so it's hard to tell and to properly advise.
