I really need a little help...could anyone be so kind as to advise me?

Recommended Posts

I've spent the last 2 hours reading all I could on this forum--so many of you are so smart and informed--you seem like wonderful people as well! I am going to try and clean up my credit woes, but need some advice: the first step is to dispute all negative tradelines, I understand this. Should I also DV all the CA's and OC's at the SAME TIME, or AFTER I get back the results from the 3 credit reporting agencies? If anyone could advise me, I'd very much appreciate it--thanks in advance!:)

You DV the CA's ONLY! Do NOT DV the OC's. Once you have sent off your DV's CMRRR and you have the little green cards in your possession - THEN you dispute the items with the CB's

MissaFraQ is very correct. You DV the CA's ONLY! Just follow Kristy's DV flowchart.

With OCc, the process is a little bit inverted. You first dispute with the CRAs, and once they verify, then you dispute with the OC.

If you know the debt truly ain't yours, then you can pursue two legal avenues.

1) MOV with the CRA and sue them

2) Sue the OC

If you know the debt is yours, then you want to start reading about settlement. Ask before you act, and you're still likely a ways off from this step.

Heaping one more reading assignment onto you.

do I DV the CA's after I dispute the tradelines, or at the same time I dispute the tradelines?

Same time. Look at the timeline in red down the right side.

For more info, this is what's known as the 1-2 Punch. I think this post by Methuss is one of the best explaining the concept.
