direred
It could also mean they couldn't verify your identity. They give a number of people runarounds about that.
serenity06
Thanks.. Do you think I need to contact them?Oh yeah... I do have FA on CR. I forgot all about that. You know I am getting so discouraged because I need to rebuild credit somewhere and it is not working fast enough for me...
matthewscott
My experience at a different store...It could just be they couldn't verify your identity. That's the answer that I got after I applied for a different retail card. I was a bit surprised because I have a different version of their card for three years. You would have thought they would have known who I am! (By the way, I work at the headquarters for the retail store but they no longer own the credit card bank.) They claim they never could get me on the phone and that they left a message. I checked and I didn't get a message. When I called to ask they said I should go to the store and apply in person instead of online. They also said they would use another credit card to verify the information and it would go through. I did ask if there was anything else preventing me from the card and they said no. I sort of feel that I might still get denied. I guess we'll see next time I go shopping... Wait and see what the answer is. I guess you could call in the mean time and see if they could tell you what happened.

serenity06
I finally found out what was going on. They had me down for a Rich's Card in 1991 and it was not paid. They want me to write a letter stating that I did not open the account and a copy of my SSN and ID. Then they will evaluate it. I am scared to do that because I do not need to have anyone writing something else on my credit report. I would like to have a Macy's card but I don't want to open a can of worms up neither. Will this start the SOL date over with me contacting the OC? Tell me what would you do if you were me... The bill is $177.15.
direred
If you pay that amount, Macy's will generally reopen if you call the right dept.
