rjnjr1019
this is going to be a long post, i have some medical bills i have been paying on to the hospital for years they are doing alot of building at the hospital so they sent all there old bills to a collection agency, i got 10 statements with 10 different account # from a collection agency a few months back. i was stumped for awhile so i did not do anything about it i didnt think i still owed all the money on the amount so i called the hospital 4 times to get a record of my bills and my payment history, they never sent them so . anyways when i talked to the agecy thet said that the balance was 3900.00 i said i would settle for 2000.00 they said no 2750 and that would settle the debts. i said that since some of theses bill are from 1993 thru 2006 that the older ones where past the statue of limitations and they said that these bills had been lumped togather and i was making payments that that did not apply, so if all these bills had been lumped togather why did i get 10 seperate statements with 10 different amounts and accout number? i told her they had not been lumped togather and she said once the hospital sends them to them they lump them togather to make it easy for them and the customers to pay and keep track of them i never made a payment to them after they lumped them togather so i called a freind that works for a collection agency in our state and she said even if i was making payments i do not have to pay the older bills because of the sol had run out and only pay the amounts from 2001 on so that equals about 700.00 and write on the older bills statue of limitations has run out she said i would never hear from them again what do you all think of this????? rjnjr1019
ok i know what that means i did dv as you say it and they agreed that i had 10 seperate accounts and 10 different bills with differents amounts on each not in writing though i had spoke to them but now everyone says never talk to them on the phone why is that? anyways they told me i can use one account number to write on checks as that one number would pull up all the accounts, they take the biggest bill and thats the number they use is that a way for them to say you have been making paymenst on the bills so the statue of limitations is void??? kevin3344
They probably have one account for you in their system but they're separate debts. Don't talk to them on the phone. Tell them you only correspond in writing.________Extreme Q Vaporizer Heating Element Edited September 9, 2011 by kevin3344

outforjustice
I had 10 accounts that turned up on my credit report from a few years back that were covered 100% by insurance. But because the hospital was slow to bill, the insurance declined to pay.I wrote letters to the hospital adminisatrator as well as the head of billing and got results. All ten accounts were removed. Also, I believe that if it is past the SOL and the CRB's show them, they can be sued for 1000.00 each account that they refuse to remove as well as can the hospital that put them there. Check the FDCPA and FCRA for this ruling.
