tropicaljo
I thought that billing postcards had gone out with the stone age, but today I received a billing postcard in my mailbox that should have gone to some folks that live almost 10 miles away. I don't even have city water...we've got a well. I guess this billing postcard came to my house cause the last names are the same, but the thing is... it shows to anyone who cares to look that those people owe over $500. past due on a water bill, + current charges. I thought I'd read somewhere around here that it is a no-no for a creditor to send you a bill that allows anyone other than yourself to see how much you owe. Does that just go for bills that have gone into collection, or has this water company just violated these people's rights to privacy regarding their debt? Just curious. momof5
It's a No-No for a CA..... OC's can pretty much do what they want unless state law adds them to their statutes.
