Another Macy's card question

Recommended Posts

I discovered that I had an old Macy's card account still opened. Since I am trying to rebuild my credit, I called them and had them send out a new card. This account is from 1997.

I just got the card in the mail today. What is the likelihood of them cancelling my account after they review my credit report?

I would like a credit line increase. Do they pull credit reports in order to grant CLIs?

After going through my credit report I found that I had a Macy's card that was still opened. I have quite a few charge-off and collection accounts. The account was opened in 1997 so I figured it would give me some history. I called Macys and asked them to reissue the card because Macy's just opened up in my current state. They sent me a card. I figured I should use it for a few months and then ask for a credit limit increase. The other day 4/6/07, I stopped by Macy's after work. They verified my ID and I purchased a quilt set.

Today I get an email saying that I had two new alerts on my credit report. I checked and one of the alerts was an inquiry from Macy's on 4/7/07, one day after I made the purchase. I am afraid they pulled my credit report and will now close my account because of the baddies on my credit report. Has anyone had this happen to them with Macy's? Does Macy do a regular credit review on their accounts? If this is common, wouldn't they close my account years ago when the baddies started showing up on my CR?

The other alert was my Crown Jewelers account now reporting on experian. My Wells Fargo secured is now reporting on experian and equifax but now transunion.

I have a long way to go but I'll get there some day. The baddies should be removed in a year or so and all baddies should be removed in two years.

macys can checks your credit when ever they would like but that doesnt mean they would drop you.. I would just be careful to pay the bill on time and never go delin because if you do they can either drop your credit line (low like 100.00) or close the account . I have seen this alot ( I work for GECF GAP INC) and I know thats what we do.. I also know if you try to increase you credit they do check your credit to see if you have been defaulting and your credit score. .. so if you asked for a credit line increase then that mite be the reason they pull your cr this time, but good luck just continue to pay on time and read your terms of agreement ... or just call MACYS :)++
