Paid Collection Still Showing as Unpaid

If this has already been asked, I apologize. So much good info here, it's hard to take it all in.

Anyway, on to my question. An old collection I paid off in 11/01 STILL shows up on EX, EQ and TU. This was a $400 bill to Sprint, which I paid off in full via the CA. I don't have proof that I paid it, since I closed that checking account years ago, and didn't keep the cancelled check or "thank you" letter.

What is the best way to get it off my record? Should I try DV on it? Whom should I contact, since on my report, the CA is listed as "426YC04432"?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Is it showing with a balance due or is it "0"? If the balance is "0" than it is correct to report on your credit for the 7 yr. period. I would dispute it with the CRA's. :)++

Right now, it's showing "Balance $403" and "Status: Unpaid". I fear this is killing my credit score. I will DV and see if it comes off.
