gbe
I have received two phone calls in the last two days on my cell phone from "Enhanced Recovery Corp". First time, I didn't notice the call, and no message. Today, I pick up, and they ask for me by name but provide a long outdated address. Any and all credit card debts attributable to me are outside of the Louisiana SoL for collection (still a couple of years from the limit on reporting to CRA).I wish to send a Cease and Desist letter to this company, but am unsure of how to go about it. I have no idea what on earth they are trying to collect from me, the amount, an account number, a reference number, etc. etc to reference in the letter so that I can be sure that it is properly followed. Can I just send a letter that basically states my name and that I demand that they stop contacting me?Should I DV them first, despite not knowing what they are contacting me for specifically? As of three days ago there is no entry on my credit report with their name, nor is there an inquiry from them. Thanks in advance
thomassl
My first question is how did they know your cell phone number? CA's are not allowed to call you on cell phones as this could cost you money! They must be going through some type of cell phone directory. I believe this company is a JDB. If the debts are SOL, they cannot sue you but that doesn't stop them from trying to get the money. I personally would answer my phone and tell them I don't know who they are and don't care and to never call my cell phone again! :'>
AISLE4
Go to budhibbs.com to get their contact info, and then send a DV letter. That's what I'd do. I'd want to know what it was before sending a cease and desist.

CA's are not allowed to call you on cell phones as this could cost you money! I would assume that I put it down as my daytime phone number at some stage in the game. Since they have an obsolete address for me, it is likely that my home phone number in their listing is obsolete as well. Only my cell number has remained unchanged. They must be going through some type of cell phone directory. I believe this company is a JDB. If the debts are SOL, they cannot sue you but that doesn't stop them from trying to get the money. I personally would answer my phone and tell them I don't know who they are and don't care and to never call my cell phone again! My plan for the next time they call (I'm guessing same time tomorrow morning), is to demand that they send something to me in writing. Once I receive that, I would DV. I am hesitant to give my current address though, as I have read on this forum to give as little information as possible (granted, they could look in a phone book for my address). Do I just send a letter stating something like:"Your company has contacted me regarding a debt. I dispute owing any debt to you."Can a DV be that generic, or do I need some kind of reference number?
