petr3772
There isn't a collection for the difference yet on my credit report but the car is showing as repo'd. According to my divorce decree I am no longer responsible for this loan but I am stuck on it as a co-signer. Do I have any way to get out of this or am I stuck with it as I am still a co-signer? divemedic
The divorce decree does not absolve you from your obligation to repay the loan.
mattandallismom
The same thing happened to me. My lawyer advised me that the only thing you can do is sue your ex.
Ahntara
"...I am no longer responsible..."Co-signers are 100% legally liable for their debts regardless of marital status. Lenders don't care what your divorce decree says; they just want their money."...am I stuck with it..."Yep. Dispute anyway, just in case. But don't get your hopes up.
